Rainmaker

Today we set out for Rainmaker. About 20 miles outside of Quepos this rainforest with bridges and walkways was saved from becoming a lumber yard in part by the Roddick family (Body Shop).

Suncreamed and slick with repellent four intrepid explorers headed up into the canopy.

The bridges had an Indiana Jones, slightly worn, one at a time kinda feel which added to the adventure.

Stop wobbling the bridge!

View from top of the canopy.

Unfortunately we didn't see any.

Mark assesses the bridge.

Kapok tree.

This was the longest and wobbliest!

A refreshing swim. (The look on my face is because the boys have just hot footed it out of the water having spied a scorpion with their goggles. I'm doing my best to remain calm and not touch the bottom!)

The was just fab. Pretty cold but in the heat of the jungle much needed.

Next we played 'who can spot the best bug?'

I kick things off with these long legged spiders.

Freddy spots one of these critters, then we notice them everywhere.

Next it's this hairy dude in a curled up leaf
(please don't let him jump!)

A cute lizard.

This gross spider.

Reddish spider.

Walking stick /stick insect.

Another lizard.

Check out this chunky, beady eyed fella.

Giant squashed toad!

All these bugs make us hungry so we head back for a delicious Costa Rican lunch.

It's so very, very green here. Will definitely miss my favourite colour.

And the amazing trees.

Another full day of adventure!

  1. Latest photos super. Jungle colours gorgeous but beasties best avoided! Especially like 'close-up of 4 intrepid explorer's and ' Mark checking out bridge!' (that's my boy) All love XXXX
