San Jose

The breakfast buffet was a little overwhelming this morning and some of us got a little carried away! Clocking up 5 plus courses including a bowl of dark chocolate and a selection of mini pastries for dipping!
We headed for the Mercado Central where our senses were assaulted with an array of goodies from testicles to Tupperware. What an experience to wander down the narrow lanes full of packed out sodas (cafes) and hand made crafts.

I continued my search for a swimsuit to no avail. It seems you cannot buy a modest one piece in Costa Rica only a selection of  revealing day-glo bikinis with tassels and thongs. The whole process is made worse by over keen or suspicious staff who want to know what you are looking for and stand over you as you rifle through the 'grande' (I know I ate a big breakfast but really?) rail of skimpy bits and bobs wondering what is supposed to go where.

Despite the mega breakfast we made room for some Gallo Pollo and Taco Tico.

'Presentes' The people present. Costa Rican campesinos.

These guys were fab. The one on the right is playing a selection of pipes with flip flops!

Enjoying a dip in the sunshine.

  3. Swim wear shopping is traumatising at the best of times, hope you find something in America. When do you fly onwards? The tacos look lovely, it's inspired me to cook chicken tacos tonight. Safe onward travels... Jx
