Giant Trees and Winding Roads

Today we set off in search of giant Redwoods. Made a quick stop at this river so boys could hurl stones in.

We didn't have to drive long until the road became flanked on either side by these magnificent trees.

Stout Grove, a truly magical place.

Biggest tree ever! (I'm sure there are bigger, but this one was about 20 metres round)

Feeling small!

Tree Ape.

Hungry Tree.

Obliging tree.

Tree Window.

So, in America there are lots of drive thru's. You can drive thru Donuts, coffee, drive thru ATM and drive thru pharmacy.
Well you can also drive thru tree! Why not!

So, after our tree fest we still had a fair amount of driving to do to get to our next stop Fort Bragg. It was dark, windy and pouring as we drove on the twistiest roads ever, up, down, back, round. We all thought we were going to be sick. The last 15 miles were the longest ever. Well done Mark for advanced driving skills and sorry for the involuntary squeals and grabbing the door handles!
