Christchurch

Stopped at a little place called Orari in the way to Christchurch and popped into a great cafe called Mes Amis. Had a fab chat with the lovely Amelia, niece of Marice and Neil from Banham Post Office!

Our campsite at Spencer Beach is perfect. Right next to the beach and a fab park.

BEACH!!!!!
FISH!!!

DEN!!!
Mark just needed to run.
New pitch.
And look who we hooked up with for pizza. Thanks Popey. Was great to hang out with you and Ewan.
The Imagination Station. An amazing room filled with Lego and absolutely free but donations most welcome. You can pop in here as we did and just chill out and build for as long as you want. There's a team of brill volunteers who help to run it. Let's set one up in the UK!!

My favourite piece of Christchurch graffiti, just amazing.
The beautiful street where we breakfasted. The cafe owner was so lovely and wise. His words to the boys 'see more, know more'.

Christchurch Tram
185 White Chairs installation to remember the victims of the 2011 earthquake. A really moving place.

Cardboard Cathedral Anyone?
Everywhere you look there are carparks where buildings used to be.

Spot the Gorilla.
The Margaret Mahey playground, just an amaxing, exciting and wonderous place for children and adults. Margaret Mahey was a children's author, the playground features many designs from local children.

Christchurch cathedral.
Cathedral place.

We loved Christchurch, what a city! Very much still under reconstruction after 2011 but the people, places and energy there are so uplifting and positive. What a fabulous part of our trip.
