Due to weather, budget and stuff we have been offline for afew days ( and we survived!) So here's the last few days in one, hang in there....
As we left our digs in Fox Glacier we were told the roads in and out of the village were closed. It had rained heavy and solid since lunchtime the day before. There was only one road we could take that led to Gillespie's Beach and back.
On the way we stopped at the same mountain viewpoint as the day before but still no Mount Cook.
Gillespie's Beach was cold, foggy and windy. Quick hunt for pebbles and we're off again.
Oh, and driftwood that resembles weaponry.
Hooray, the roads have opened. We can escape and make our way to Haast. Just afew rivers to get through!
Even the lakes are flooded.
Ships Creek, just an amazing place, the best pebbles ever!
Freddy made a den.
I worked on my collection.
Here's where we should have been staying in Haast. Unfortunately the whole site flooded.
So here's where we end up, still in beautiful Haast.
Sorted!
Next day on the road to Wanaka.
There's just too much blinking scenery.
Mountains, lakes and waterfalls all over the place, can't seem to get anywhere!
Hooray, Wanaka.
We lunch on the lake.
Find a not too shabby pitch on a campsite.
The boys swim in the lake.
And we hang out in the park.
Freddy manages another epic injury.
AND I SLEEP, YES, SLEEP in a tent!
