Gandalf, gondolas, luge and thermals!

Today started as one of those days where we thought we'd just chill out, do laundry, catch up on journals etc. The forecast was rain and thunder all day in Taupo so we decided to head for sunshine in Rotorua.
Well, at least it's not raining!
Imagine......Being a hobbit!
Gandalf was abit preoccupied with Orcs or something!
Heading for a pint at the Green Dragon.
Where's my beer?
'You shall not pass!'
Back to the lake, the sun's out and so are the black swans.
Gondola ride at Skyline, heading for the Luge.

View from the tops not too shabby.
LUGE!!!!
And back up.
LUGE!!!

And back up.
You get the idea.
Luger's. (Unfortunately my shorts were not regulation so I could not join in!)

Deer on the way back.
Back to Rotorua and Kuirau Park, where steaming sulphur pools bubble all around.

The smell of eggy sulphur is pretty rotten!
These are all fenced in, guess they are too dangerous for bathing.

We gave the foot pool a go. It was molten!
And to round off the day the thermal pools at Kerosine Creek (thanks for the tip Rob and Jocelyn)
The smell was alittle overpowering but a lovely bath to finish the day.

Leaving the Creek was atmospheric.

  2. You know how it is Sheila. You are desperate to go high speed down a hill in a plastic toboggan but just have the wrong shorts on! What's a girl to do? I held the jumpers! Xx
