Early Sunday morning we set off heading for Twizel. Only a 5 hour journey.
Lake Manapouri.
Near Kingston.
Lake Wakatipu.
What's this? Kawaru Bungee bridge!
We watched in awe and dumbfounded and several people jumped or were nudged off this bridge and plummeted 140ft with varying degrees of panache!
It was not for us.
The boat scoops you up at the bottom.
Lindis Pass.
Giant fruit in Cromwell, known for its, er, fruit.
Sun through the cloud. At some point close to Twizel we get our first look at Mount Cook in the glorious sunshine. Unfortunately by then all devices are running seriously low and now I cannot find pics. Trust me, it was LOTR's tastic!
We eventually found a campsite and pitched about 8pm and ate late noodles. We lay for hours listening to the wind and hoping the tent held out. It did.
Scenery is awesome -I can almost hear the waterfalls roaring!! We r following ur journey by map and am quite, surprised by the miles u have travelled on South island alone! N.Z.looks quite small?! We saw Martin Clunes on Stewart. island near Invercargill on TV... I think? Much love and hugs D/S xxxx xxxx
