Mossman Gorge for us today. It's at the South of the Daintree, an ancient rainforest.
Epiphytes, a lantern that grows on a host without damaging it.
We didn't have our swimmers as it said conditions weren't safe for swimming. So many people were though. Boys abit gutted.
Rex Creek suspension bridge.
Amazing trees here. This one has been taken over by strangler figs. A seed is dropped on the branch of a host tree and germinated sending roots down to the ground. Gradually these roots surround the host tree which eventually dies.
Fungi.
Butress roots for stability, water and gathering mulchy nutrition.
Twisty vines.
Looks fantastic amazing forest, looks like a dino is going to jump out any moment :)
ReplyDeleteThe Daintree Rainforest is the oldest rainforest and the book 'Where the Forest meets the Sea' by Jeannie Barker was written about it! I wish we were with you! Xx
