After a frustrating morning trying to book flights and accommodation we head out to Gunung Lang a nature park.
Masses of catfish and fish that look like small sharks.
We take a boat over to the island which features gardens, wildlife, rest areas and play areas. Also a large manmade waterfall which we don't find. (Turns out it wasn't switched on today!)
Spot the Stevenson's.
Shade!!
We felt sad for the deer in their enclosure with no grass.
The gardens were really tranquil, but the heat!! And whatdyou know, another storm.
Back and rested we take to the streets once more to find the famous murals.
This one is called 'Evolution.'
'Girl'.
'Hummingbird'.
Over the past couple of weeks we have used many 'Grab' and 'Uber' drivers to get us from place to place. It's pretty much always a great experience chatting away to these guys. One thing that struck us is how often they apologize that their English is not great! This is usually after we've had a 10-15 minute conversation that frankly we'd have had no chance at in Malay. Makes us feel really rubbish and lazy for not making more effort with languages. Some of these guys are teaching themselves English using Google translate.
We have also noted an obsession with Ed Sheeran. If I hear him singing about being in love with the shape of someone one more time I will scream!
Love catfish and hummingbird
ReplyDeleteThanks Henry. Elliot says 'hi' and hopes school is going okay. 😎
