Prepare for lots of pictures of old stone stuff, all pretty much one colour. Excited? You should be! We certainly were at 4am this morning!
Temple Number One Please!
Angkor Wat.
See the outlines of Mark and Elliot on the Tuk Tuk.
See the outline of Angkor Wat.
Beautiful.
See the faces of happy boys, delighted that 5 hours of temples lay ahead of them!
See all the other crazy people who got up in the dark and got given a polystyrene breakfast box.
So much detail on just one stone, and there are millions of stones.
See the lady in Cambodia's finest fashion (complete with $4 Ray Bans) who really needs a double espresso.
Seriously though, this place is huge, magnificent, mindboggling. It took 30 years to build 800-900 years ago.
Mark and El attack the breakfast boxes as we head for Temple Number 2.
Freddy digs the breeze on the Tuk Tuk.
Temple Number 2 please!
Ta Prohm ( the one from Tomb Raider)
This was the unanimous favourite. It's like temple Vs nature. I heard a guide telling his group that the trees that were wrecking the temple are now supporting parts of it.
Some colour.
It's huge, and ancient and very atmospheric.
Fred with his flying stick insect friend.
Temple Number 3 please!
Ta Keo.
By now we are seriously hot, but the tour must go on.
This temple was not so good on the knees! Boys made easy work of the steps which were very steep and very narrow.
There's construction of one type or another at most temples.
Temple Number 4 Please!
Bayon, the four faces!
So impressive. Just so enormous, and the detail is amazing.
It's a fixer upper though.
Elliot has never been this hot before!!
The final photo before my gives up and shuts off. It's 10am. We have seen some of the amazing things man can create and how nature and man can affect them.
We'll maybe get the Lego out when we get home and have a go ourselves.
But for now, The Stevenson's head for the shower!
